Adolescents

Our Adolescent Program provides treatment and counseling to teens (ages 12 to 17) who have a psychiatric disorder, behavioral issue or dual-diagnosis.

Inpatient Care

The Adolescent Inpatient Program provides 24-hour supervision and care with an emphasis on stabilization and support for ongoing treatment needs. Child psychiatrists will identify your child’s primary issues and needs while part of a short-term recovery treatment program. Our mental health care team partners with your family to provide the most suitable treatment strategies for your child.

How inpatient treatment services work

Our adolescent inpatient care team provides compassionate supervision in a safe, age-appropriate environment. Our experts will assess your child’s specific needs and determine the best course of action. Strategies used may include:

  • Insight-oriented group therapy
  • Educational groups
  • Coping skills training
  • Recreational therapy
  • Medication

Discharge planning helps to ensure a smooth transition to follow-up care with outside providers.

Adolescent Day Treatment Programs

We now offer two levels of outpatient day programs for adolescents ages 12-17. These programs offer support as a step down from inpatient hospitalizations, or directly from the community if a higher level of therapy is needed to prevent hospitalizations. Adolescents most often spend between 2-6 weeks in outpatient programs, depending on individual needs.

Full-Day Program (PHP)

Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 2 pm

The full-day PHP program includes:

  • Daily group therapy consisting of processing and educational groups
  • Weekly consultation with a psychiatrist
  • Medication management as needed
  • Lunch is provided

This program offers structured, daily support for teens facing mental health challenges, relationship struggles, or difficulties at home and school. The program provides a therapeutic environment where teens can connect with peers, build coping skills and work towards emotional stability. The goal is to help adolescents manage their symptoms and avoid inpatient hospitalization through consistent support and skill development.

Half-Day Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 5 pm – 8 pm

This intensive program includes:

  • Group therapy three times per week that includes processing and educational groups
  • Monthly consultation with a psychiatrist

This program provides teens with a safe and structured environment to process emotions, build coping strategies, and connect with others who may be facing similar challenges. Many teens come in feeling overwhelmed or stuck, and through group therapy, psychoeducation and skill-building, they start to develop the tools they need to manage anxiety, depression and other concerns in healthier ways.
