The geriatric unit serves patients age 65 years and older who have a variety of psychiatric and sub-acute medical problems. Patients are often referred to this program due to unmanageable behaviors or to be evaluated to rule out affective versus dementia related impairment. Many of these patients are admitted on multiple medications and special attention must be given to psycho-pharmacological interventions with the possibility of adverse drug interactions.
